Job Description

JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
The Financial Services Representative role resides in the Bursar's office and serves as a key point of contact for students and internal staff on all matters related to billing, payments, and student accounts. This position ensures clarity, accuracy, and timeliness of financial transactions so that students can understand and meet financial obligations and access any qualified financial aid or assistance.

High School Diploma or GED. (TRANSCRIPT
REQUIRED
)
EXPERIENCE
Five (5) years of progressive clerical experience in a college or university Bursar/Cashier's Office, or in similarly complex organization, demonstrating a solid understanding of policies and procedures related to cashiering, receipting, depositing, and managing student accounts; OR Bachelor's Degree and one (1) year of related experience; OR Associate's Degree and three (3) years of related experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Strong problem-solving skills and a high level of accuracy in completing tasks. A Ability to manage challenging interactions with students and parents professionally and tactfully. Ability to work independently, taking initiative, exercising sound judgment, and handling confidential information with discretion. Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to navigate sensitive financial situations with empathy and professionalism. Highly organized, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced, high-visibility environment. Skilled in interpreting and applying complex federal, state, and university policies and regulations.
WORK SCHEDULE
Monday - Friday Responds to inquiries from students, parents, or guardians regarding tuition, fees, payment procedures, billing cycles, and refund policies.
Reviews student accounts for accuracy:
post charges, payments, refunds, and adjustments. Generates student billing statements, issues notices, and prepares required reports. Arranges payment plans or deferred payment agreements per college policy. Assists in the collection and verification of essential documentation (tax forms, etc.), following regulations. Assists in collecting tuition payments from third parties while ensuring compliance with respective documentation and process requirements. Process refunds, third-party billing (if applicable), and ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and institutional policies Performs essential functions in support of the UT Treasurer's office, such as resolving credit card disputes and record keeping for financial transactions. Participates in outreach or information sessions to help students understand financial obligations and resources. Performs other duties as assigned.
