Claims Coordinator Department:
Claims Summary:
Responsible to act as a liaison between client and insurance carrier to facilitate the gathering of information that will allow proper response to claims and legal documents. Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 1. Checks emails from clients and insurance carriers.
  • 2. Answers phone calls.
  • 3. File Various Claims on behalf of the client (worker's Compensation, auto, and general liability, cargo etc.)
  • 4. Regularly update client on "open" claims and other status changes.
  • 5. Contact claims adjusters regularly regarding claim status, taking thorough notations. 6. Other administrative tasks as assigned 7. Works off of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, and Microsoft Word.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. a) Familiarity with commercial lines of insurance, and the associated terms. b) Preferred, 2 year of prior experience or present relevant experience. c) Experience with talking to claims adjusters and relaying needed information. d) Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office Suite. e) Ability to talk on the phone and keep up with changing demands, ability to prioritize. f) Provide updates to clients with no grammatical errors. g) Bilingual in English and Spanish.
Language Ability:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Math Ability:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of word processing software such as Microsoft Word, spreadsheet software such as Microsoft Excel, internet software, and Microsoft Outlook.
Education/Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
