Insurance Collector

The Insurance Collector I is responsible for monitoring accounts to ensure timely payment and collection. This role focuses on resolving claim denials, managing correspondence, following up with payers, and rebilling outstanding accounts as needed. The position works closely with the CO Billing Team and the Collections Supervisor to support efficient revenue cycle operations and ensure accurate account resolution.

Job Function:

Day Shift. 9am - 5pm. On-site role in Wallingford (5 days per week). Monitor and resolve EDI dashboard for claim kick-out edits. Manage A/R through system modules and reports. Process simple denials; resubmit, appeal, and follow up on unpaid or incorrectly processed claims. Work with the Coding department to resolve claim rejections and appeals. Answer incoming insurance-specific inquiries. Perform basic insurance follow-up on claims. Communicate with insurance carriers regarding claim status and collect on accounts. Assist with process improvements to achieve greater claims resolution. Ensure the quality, integrity, and proper work effort of assigned tasks.

Job Requirements:

HS Diploma or GED, Associates Degree or Higher Preferred. 2 Years experience with medical insurance collections. EMR experience preferred. Prior knowledge of CPT/modifiers and

ICD-9/ICD-10

codes.

Experience with insurance websites example:

Availilty. MS 365 experience a plus.
