AFI is headquartered in Leavenworth, Kansas approximately 25 minutes from the Legends. SUMMARY Responds to incoming telephone, email, or written notification of loss. Performs duties as directed in connection with reviewing and processing of notification of loss documentation. Provides claims status updates to policyholders as requested throughout the claims adjudication cycle.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Receiving, recording, and distribution of incoming loss notification correspondence to appropriate unit staff Performs accurate and timely processing associated with loss notification and assignment of claims Provides status updates to policyholders via telephone, email, or written correspondence pending claim settlement
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Receives, logs, and forwards to assigned staff/independent adjuster incoming information from policyholders related to new loss reports Creates and distributes required documentation (both system and hard-copy) relating to pending claims. Obtains police/fire reports, weather reports, and other information relevant to the circumstances of the potential claim Contacts other outside parties (mortgage companies, adjusters, policyholders, etc.) as necessary to obtain information required to complete claim processing activities Contacts, or responds to contacts from, claimants and other outside parties to provide accurate and timely status updates during the claim settlement process Ability to be at work regularly and on time Performs other duties as assigned in support of the unit and company objectives
QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION
High School Diploma or
GED EXPERIENCE
Two years of customer service experience in a financial services environment, or one year of clerical support/processing experience with AFI Associates Degree may be substituted for this requirement
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Competent written communications skills Excellent verbal communications skills, to include a courteous, confident demeanor and appropriate use of grammar and vocabulary Ability to communicate telephonically moderately complex insurance terminology to policyholders in a clear and concise manner General knowledge of MS Outlook and Word Keyboard skills of at least 30wpm Ability to learn to utilize AFI's computer systems for data access and entry
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to perform basic math functions to include calculation of percentages and ratios
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to quickly gather facts and information needed to determine appropriate action policyholder requests Demonstrates sound judgment and decision-making skills Ability to accomplish work according to established priorities and procedures
PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Successful completion within 90 days of standardized training in Principals of Insurance, Dwelling Coverages, and Homeowner Coverages

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work is primarily sedentary. The employee will generally be seated to perform the work, but will also do some walking, standing, bending, and carrying of light items (less than 10 lbs.).The noise level of the work is low. The area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated. Incumbent must be able to work a flexible schedule and overtime as required.
