Job Description

Seaxon Home Health Care Agency is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Home Health Authorization Coordinator to join our office team in Katy, TX. This role is responsible for insurance verification, authorization requests, authorization tracking, and follow-up with insurance companies for home health services. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, and comfortable communicating with insurance companies, physician offices, patients, and internal team members. This position helps reduce delays in care, prevent authorization-related billing issues, and support timely access to home health services. Home health experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate who has strong healthcare office experience, communication skills, and attention to detail. Duties Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits. Request authorizations for home health services through insurance portals, phone, fax, or other payer-required methods. Track authorization numbers, approved visits, expiration dates, pending requests, denials, and follow-up deadlines. Communicate with insurance companies, physician offices, patients, intake, scheduling, clinical staff, and billing as needed. Follow up on pending or delayed authorization requests to help prevent delays in patient care. Request additional visits or authorization extensions when needed. Maintain accurate authorization notes and records in the agency's system. Assist with gathering required documentation for authorization approvals. Identify authorization issues that may affect patient care, scheduling, or billing. Keep leadership updated on urgent, delayed, denied, or pending authorization issues. Follow HIPAA and agency privacy standards when handling patient information. Requirements Previous healthcare office experience preferred. Insurance verification or authorization experience preferred. Home health experience strongly preferred. Experience with Medicare Advantage, Medicaid, or commercial insurance is a plus. Strong attention to detail and follow-up skills. Comfortable using phones, fax, email, payer portals, EMR systems, and spreadsheets. Ability to stay organized while tracking multiple patients, deadlines, and payer requirements. Strong communication skills with insurance companies, staff, patients, and physician offices. Basic computer skills required. High school diploma or equivalent required. Knowledge of HIPAA preferred. Bilingual English/Spanish .
Pay:
$15.00 - $20.00 per hour
