The Prior Authorization and Referral Coordinator is responsible for processing referrals and the initiation and follow up on prior authorizations to insurance carriers prior to patient appointments. They will also assist with various other office related tasks such as denials related to authorizations, and other business operations at our facility. Responsibilities Process patient data and charges in a timely manner, verifies all data, unit charges, and billing elements Process and maintain all patient records and insurance information Collect, analyze, report, and perform patient billing reconciliation Report concerns, problems, or complaints to supervisor Provide support for facility billing functions and collection activities Attain appropriate authorizations, referrals, patient demographics, and insurance information Adhere to all HIPAA and company policies and procedures Accepts other duties as assigned Skills & Qualifications 2+ Years of Medical Billing experience preferred Excellent understanding of ICD-10 and CPT codes and their use Prior Authorization Experience highly preferred Minimum of 2 years of customer service experience preferred Excellent communication and customer service skills Must be well organized and possess a strong attention to detail Demonstrate excellent research, problem solving, and follow up skills High School Diploma or GED required Certificate in medical office training course preferred Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of sitting Exert 20-50 lbs. of force occasionally and 10-20 lbs. frequently
