Insurance Producer — Independent Agency Hames Co. | Clarkesville, GA | Full-Time | Salary + Commission Tired of being a captive agent pitching one company's rates, whether they're the best deal or not? Sell the way insurance is supposed to be sold. Hames Co. is a hometown independent insurance agency in Clarkesville, Georgia, serving families and small businesses across Habersham, White, Rabun, and the surrounding North Georgia counties. We represent many top-rated carriers, which means our producers walk into every conversation with options — not a script. If you've ever lost a deal because your one company couldn't compete on price or coverage, you already understand why our model works better for both producers and clients. We're hiring a Producer to grow our book of business across personal lines (home, auto, life) and small commercial accounts. New to insurance? That's fine. No insurance license? No insurance background? Not a deal-breaker. If you've got a track record of sales success in another field — banking, real estate, financial services, retail management, B2B sales, automotive, mortgage, or another relationship-driven field — we want to talk. We'll cover the cost of your Georgia Property & Casualty license, pay you during the study and exam period, and train you on our products, carriers, and systems. The right person matters more to us than the right résumé. What You'll Do Build new client relationships through referrals, community presence, and outbound outreach Quote and write home, auto, life, and small commercial policies across our carrier panel Review existing client coverage, identify gaps, and round out accounts with cross-sells Stay sharp on carrier appetites, underwriting guidelines, and product changes Show up for the community — Chamber events, charity functions, and local sponsorships. Hometown agency means hometown presence. Education & Licensing Bachelor's degree preferred Georgia Property & Casualty insurance license is not required to be considered. We'll sponsor your licensing — paying for the course, study materials, and exam fees — and you'll earn a salary during the study period. Most candidates can be licensed within 2-4 weeks. Life & Health license is a plus, and we'll help you add it after you're settled in Who We're Looking ForCandidate must be an individual with a high level of integrity and considerable fortitude. We are seeking someone who is a builder and believes in themselves. 1-3 years of sales experience with documented success (quota attainment, awards, top-performer rankings, growth metrics — something concrete you can point to) Career-changers welcome from banking, real estate, financial services, retail management, B2B sales, automotive, mortgage, or other relationship-driven industries Comfortable building a pipeline from scratch — referrals, networking, follow-up discipline Ability to explain complex products in plain English to people who aren't experts Roots or interest in the North Georgia community. What We Offer Base salary of $30,000 plus uncapped commission on new business and renewals Realistic Year 1 total compensation: $65,000 - $80,000 for a motivated producer Realistic Year 2 total compensation: $75,000 - $90,000 as your renewal book builds Between Year 3-5, total compensation should exceed $100,000 and continue to grow annually as your book of accounts grows What drives the climb: new business written, client retention, and the renewal book you build over time. These ranges reflect what motivated producers at similar tenure can realistically earn — your actual results depending on activity, retention, and the relationships you cultivate. Renewal commissions on a true book of business that you build and benefit from year over year Paid licensing, study time, and continuing education PTO, performance bonuses, and 401(k) Warm leads from existing client referrals and your marketing efforts A real office at 562 Washington Street in downtown Clarkesville — not a cubicle in a call center A strong service team servicing your clients and the ability to benefit from working with an agency with a good reputation in the local community.
