Anderson Search is partnering with a growing alternative finance organization seeking an experienced MCA Underwriter to join its underwriting team in Edison, New Jersey. This individual will play a critical role in evaluating business funding opportunities, analyzing risk, structuring transactions, and supporting the company's continued growth through sound underwriting decisions. The successful candidate will bring direct experience within the merchant cash advance (MCA), alternative lending, revenue-based financing, or business funding industry and possess a strong understanding of cash flow analysis, risk assessment, lender appetite, and deal structuring. Responsibilities Underwriting & Risk Assessment Review and analyze merchant cash advance and alternative business funding opportunities. Evaluate business bank statements, cash flow trends, deposit activity, and overall business performance. Assess creditworthiness, identify risk factors, and determine funding viability. Structure transactions based on borrower profile, repayment capacity, and overall risk. Make funding recommendations including approvals, counteroffers, and declines. Evaluate renewal opportunities and existing customer performance. Deal Analysis & Structuring Analyze transactions ranging from small working capital requests to multi-million-dollar funding opportunities. Evaluate businesses across varying credit profiles and risk categories. Review existing obligations, repayment history, and leverage exposure. Balance portfolio quality with growth objectives. Recommend appropriate funding amounts, terms, and structures. Direct Lender & Market Knowledge Maintain a strong understanding of direct lender programs and underwriting criteria. Understand lender appetite across various industries, risk grades, and borrower profiles. Identify appropriate funding solutions based on deal quality and borrower characteristics. Stay informed regarding market trends and alternative finance products. Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner closely with sales, funding, and executive leadership teams. Communicate underwriting decisions clearly and efficiently Provide feedback regarding transaction structure and risk considerations. Assist in resolving documentation, funding, and underwriting-related issues. Portfolio & Risk Management Monitor portfolio quality and performance trends. Identify potential fraud indicators and emerging risk concerns. Support ongoing underwriting process improvements. Contribute to the development of underwriting best practices and risk management initiatives. Qualifications Required Experience Underwriting merchant cash advances (MCA), alternative lending, revenue-based financing, or business funding transactions. Strong understanding of business bank statement analysis and cash flow evaluations. Experience making independent underwriting decisions. Knowledge of credit risk assessment and deal structuring. Ability to thrive within a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Preferred Experience Working for an MCA lender, alternative finance company, direct lender, or business funding organization. Familiarity with lender appetite analysis and funding placement strategies. Experience reviewing high volumes of funding opportunities daily. Knowledge of multiple funding products and financing structures.
