Position Summary We are looking for an Underwriter who thrives in a fast paced, entrepreneurial growth environment. This individual will manage a pipeline of DSCR mortgage loans. This person will ensure customers have a smooth and timely transition through the mortgage process, proactively managing all credit and asset related issues, approving loans within assigned authority, and communicating underwriting pipeline status to constituents. Responsibilities Perform in-depth review of loans, evaluating credit, collateral, income, assets, entity, general contractor, and title, among other factors. Prepare timely, high-quality credit and asset analysis with narratives that accurately describe the transaction along with risk and mitigating factors associated with the loan. Review and approve third party reports including property appraisals, physical needs assessments, environmental reports, and zoning reports. Perform stress testing scenarios on construction projects and stabilized income producing real estate properties, as required. Review and analyze mortgage underwriting files to determine compliance with program guidelines, investor requirements, and regulatory standards. Approve loans within credit authority or determine if additional conditions / documentation is required. Provide loan scenario analysis and/or pre‐approval reviews to sales team to render a decision. Assist post-closing in clearing deficiencies and responding to internal / external audits. Make recommendations to management for exceptions to loans outside credit authority. Monitor the underwriting pipeline to ensure daily expected service levels can be met for assigned work. Provide an evidence-based feedback loop to management to improve underwriting technology implementation, adjustments to the credit box, and underwriting processes. Prepare reports giving executives visibility into underwriting pipeline, portfolio performance, and associated credit risk attributes. Manage and train junior underwriters and other employees, as required. Interact with business partners, vendors, investors, and consultants, as required. Maintain and update the Underwriting Policy and Procedure Manual. Ad hoc projects, as assigned. Qualifications Deep knowledge of mortgage underwriting concepts, practices and procedures. Must have significant experience underwriting DSCR loans for multiple investor takeouts In-depth understanding of property operating statements, leases, rent rolls, real estate schedules and the ability to perform detailed cash flow analysis using CRE templates. Extensive knowledge of credit analysis, loan structuring, entity review, and asset review. Pipeline management experience required. Experience creating and implementing underwriting metrics and data analytics. Experience developing business requirements and configuring underwriting systems a plus. Strong working knowledge of Google Sheets, MS office and Sharepoint. Strong attention to detail Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with an emphasis on customer service and teamwork. Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, managing time and resources to ensure work is completed efficiently within established timeframes. Naturally inquisitive with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion in daily activities. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under pressure with tight deadlines and constant interruptions Ability to flexibly adjust priorities in a changing environment. Self-motivated team player with a strong work ethic and high level of personal accountability. Positive personality with a high level of integrity. Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Real Estate, or related fields from an accredited college/university is desired 3+ years of commercial and/or residential underwriting experience; DSCR underwriting experience is required
