Job Description

Posting Details The General Services Department (GSD) supports the operations of state government by providing essential services, including procurement, risk management, facilities management, transportation services, and printing services. The Risk Management Division (RMD) protects the state's assets by managing insurance programs, liability claims, and loss prevention initiatives. RMD provides risk assessment, coverage, and mitigation strategies to safeguard state employees, properties, and resources.

Why does the job exist? This position collects and analyzes data for the purpose of making decisions regarding eligibility for insurance coverage and creating insurance policies for various agencies. How does it get done? PAC Underwriters oversee an array of responsibilities that include application review and acceptance, coverage placement, broker interaction, working with risk management information system, and agency support PAC Underwriters collaborate regularly with contract brokers in the areas of pollution, heavy equipment, boilers, and the New Mexico Rail Runner. Who are the customers? State Agencies, Higher Education, General Public, Medical Facilities, and Local Public Bodies Ideal Candidate State Agencies, Higher Education, General Public, Medical Facilities, and Local Public Bodies Minimum Qualification Associate's degree in related field and two (2) years of underwriting experience. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling four (4) years may substitute for the required education and experience. Possession of a valid New Mexico Producers License within one (1) year of hire date. Employment Requirements Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment. Valid New Mexico Claims Adjuster License. Working Conditions Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and smart phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required. Some travel may be required. Occasionally work extra hours, on weekends and holidays.
