Position Summary:
The Marine Underwriter will contribute to the growth of the business by underwriting Marine products under general direction, issuing quotes and policies while ensuring standards and compliance guidelines are met. Responsible for underwriting middle market, multinational accounts and building relationships with clients and brokers. How you will create an impact- Evaluating, prioritizing and selecting submissions to be underwritten.
- Underwrite selected, risks, adhering to underwriting guidelines and discipline.
- Comply with stablished service level agreements.
- Assisting in developing existing and establishing new broker relationships
- Collaborating with Distribution, Territory Managers and other line(s) of business to target business development opportunities.
- Representing AIG at client and broker functions
- Participating in special underwriting projects as needed.
- Providing superior customer service to brokers and clients (internal & external). What you'll need to succeed
- Must be detail-oriented, possess analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills, and be able to make decisions based on level of authority.
- Effective in dynamic environment, adaptable, comfortable with ambiguity, working at pace and prioritizing multiple tasks
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal), collaboration, building trust with wide range of colleagues and clients
- Appetite for learning about the industry, negotiating skills and a focus on writing profitable business
- Minimum 2 years of professional experience; Commercial Insurance Company, Agency or Brokerage experience preferred; Marine Cargo, Contractors Equipment and Marine Liabiability experience preferred.
