Job Description
AVP, Cyber Underwriter New York, NY| Hybrid We're working with a growing financial lines underwriting platform looking to add an experienced Cyber Underwriter at the AVP level. This is a strong opportunity for someone who wants more ownership of their book while still being part of an established and well-supported environment. The role is focused on underwriting complex cyber and technology risks, developing broker relationships, and playing an active role in shaping portfolio strategy. What you'll be doing You'll have full involvement across the underwriting lifecycle, including: Evaluating and pricing complex cyber risks across a range of industries Structuring coverage based on individual risk profiles and exposures Managing broker relationships across the Northeast, with a focus on retail distribution Owning the quote, negotiation, and bind process end to end Monitoring portfolio performance and maintaining underwriting discipline There is also a strong emphasis on: Contributing to broader underwriting strategy Identifying market trends and emerging risks Working closely with claims, actuarial, and leadership teams on portfolio performance What makes this different This is not a traditional carrier seat, but it's also not a startup environment. The platform has been built by bringing together established underwriting teams, so there is real depth of experience and a collaborative underwriting culture already in place. The environment allows for more flexibility and decision-making at the desk level, without losing the structure and support that experienced underwriters value. For someone who enjoys underwriting complex risks and wants a bit more influence over how their book is managed, it's a strong middle ground. What they're looking for 7+ years of cyber, technology E&O, or related specialty underwriting experience Experience working with retail brokers, ideally in the Northeast market Track record of building and managing a profitable book Ability to operate independently while collaborating with a broader team Why it's worth considering Strong existing underwriting platform with experienced peers Real ownership over your portfolio and underwriting decisions Access to complex, interesting risks Stable environment with room to grow into broader responsibility
