Full Job Description General Purpose:
Supervise staff members who perform various underwriting activities involving rating, processing, coordinating, and billing as well as managing risk selection and maintaining profitable business growth by monitoring overall portfolio performance.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversee Underwriting team Ensure compliance with company guidelines Make informed decisions on renewal pricing, endorsements, ERM 14's etc. Monitor team's performance to achieve profitable underwriting results Supervise workers' compensation underwriters & underwriter techs, assigning workloads and providing guidance on complex risk evaluations Monitor team performance against established underwriting standards and goals, including loss ratios and premium volume Coach and develop underwriters & underwriter techs through regular feedback, training, and mentorship opportunities Review renewal applications, and endorsements to assess risk factors, including industry classifications, payroll, loss history, and safety practices Ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements and company underwriting policies and procedures. Identify and address potential compliance issues Manage Audit process alongside Operations & TRV $60,000 Underwriting Authority Manage book of business (compliance & processing) Manage the TRV Underwriting audit Occurs 2 times per year; one for January policies and again for April Pull the pertinent UW information for Travelers to review which ensures we are in compliance with Travelers Underwriting Guidelines This is a random file selection, normally 14 policies each per renewal Manage Audit processes Occurs twice per year for 1-1 and 4-1 renewals. Liaison with Travelers and attend weekly or bi-weekly status meetings as necessary Handle audit disputes and ensure all audits are processed in Origami Review all PAAN's (Premium Audit Analyst Notifications) and file accordingly Provide the Estimate vs Actual audit reports to Manager Assist with all processing and the filing of the audit backup Assist UTs with processing Audits, Dividends, Policies, Endorsements etc. as needed The requirements herein are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by employee, but is not a complete list of responsibilities, duties, and skills required. Minimum Requirements:
Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in business administration, Agricultural Field, Insurance, Marketing or Finance or equivalent combination of education and experience Minimum 10 years' experience in commercial insurance industry with responsibilities including account management, underwriting, broker relations, customer service, bureau compliance etc. Certification and/or License - Must possess Property & Casualty (P&C) license or obtain within 90 days of employment; must perform required continuing education coursework to maintain license; additional licensing and/or certifications may be required during course of employment Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Understanding of Workers Compensation markets, including insurance carriers able to write agribusiness. Understanding of unique coverage needs for farms and agribusiness. Ability to effectively manage own time, activities, and resources. Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word Must be able to read, write and speak English An Equal Opportunity Employer including
