Job Summary As a Mid‑Market Senior Underwriter, you will evaluate and underwrite complex employee benefits cases in the 1,000-4,999 life range, using sound judgment to drive profitable growth and long‑term customer retention. You'll apply advanced underwriting expertise, anticipate market and economic trends, and develop strategic solutions that support the health of the overall block of business. This role also serves as a subject‑matter expert and mentor within the Regional Accounts and Mid‑Market underwriting teams, helping elevate team capability and decision quality. Key Responsibilities Underwrite and assess complex mid‑market cases using established guidelines and independent judgment. Analyze economic and financial trends to inform pricing and retention strategies. Develop long‑term solutions that strengthen profitability and customer relationships. Partner across departments to ensure decisions consider enterprise‑wide impacts. Serve as a subject‑matter expert and mentor to underwriting colleagues.
Skills and Background You'll Need Education:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.Experience:
6+ years of progressively responsible experience in employee benefits underwriting. Strong proficiency in underwriting guidelines, procedures, contract provisions, and state insurance statutes. Demonstrated ability to evaluate complex risk and make sound, strategic decisions. Experience mentoring or supporting the development of other underwriters. Familiarity with mid‑market or regional account underwriting environments. Exposure to AI tools—such as Microsoft Copilot—is a plus. Key Behaviors of aSuccessful Candidate Negotiation:

Any award depends on a variety of factors including individual and organizational performance. The actual compensation for this role will be based on a combination of education and experience, knowledge and skills, position budget, internal equity, and market data.Salary Range:
$76,250.00 - $111,500.00 Positions will be posted for at least 5 days from original posting date.
