Responsible for helping to lead the renewal underwriting team supporting the less than 500 lives groups. Reviewing renewals and process changes for assigned business segments. Accountable to help improve the technical underwriting bench strength by reinforcing fundamental underwriting concepts throughout the team. Actively develops staff toward increased effectiveness in current role and preparation for future roles. You will be accountable for being credible and responsive to customers and internal business partners. Partners with the field to ensure delivery on service goals. Seek to understand your individual marketplace dynamics and those of the general market to maximize our chances of success. Work and collaborate with others to identify and solve problems across teams and business units.

  • Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of Employee Benefits experience in Underwriting or related
  • Leadership or Mentorship experience preferred
  • Anticipates resource needs, sets priorities, and manages people & work in most effective manner to achieve performance objectives in conjunction with guidelines and procedures.
  • Strong critical thinking skills. A passion for making decisions through both analyzing data and employing critical thinking skills.
  • Strong underwriting technical skills
  • Demonstrates a solid, consistent technical proficiency of underwriting guidelines and underlying risk management philosophy. This role will have a Hybrid work schedule, with the expectation of working in an office (Hartford, CT, Lake Mary, Fl & Alpharetta, GA) 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).
  • Compensation
  • The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market.
Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is: $78,000
