Environmental Casualty Underwriter - Contractors & Consultants (Hybrid - Richmond, VA) My client is seeking an Environmental Casualty Underwriter to support a focused, steady‑growth underwriting team based hybrid out of Richmond, VA . The emphasis of this role is on contractors and professional consultants , not site pollution-driven business. Responsibilities Underwrite environmental casualty risks with a primary focus on contractors and consultants Analyze liability exposures, contract scopes, professional services, and loss drivers Evaluate submissions for coverage structure, terms, limits, pricing, and risk selection Partner with brokers and internal stakeholders to support new and renewal business Maintain underwriting discipline within established guidelines and delegated authority Contribute to portfolio management through monitoring of performance, trends, and mix Participate in underwriting discussions and process improvement as the book develops This role is not heavily site‑pollution focused and does not require transactional, one‑off deal underwriting. Ideal Profile Environmental or casualty underwriting experience within a specialty or program environment Strong exposure to contractors and/or professional consultants (environmental preferred) Sound understanding of liability coverage, contract review, and risk assessment Portfolio‑oriented mindset with attention to consistency and profitability Comfortable working collaboratively in a measured, intentional growth environment Program underwriting experience welcomed Location Hybrid role based in Richmond, VA Regular in‑office presence expected (details flexible) Timing This is an ongoing search , with hiring driven by fit rather than urgency .
