Job Description

Location:
Southern California (Hybrid) I'm partnering with a leading specialty carrier to identify a Senior E&S P&C Underwriter to join their growing team in Southern California. This is a high-impact role focused on underwriting complex commercial lines risks within the Excess & Surplus (E&S) marketplace . What You'll Do Underwrite and grow a profitable book of E&S commercial P&C business (multi-line, including GL, property, excess, and specialty risks) Evaluate complex submissions, determine pricing/terms, and structure deals across diverse industries Build and maintain strong relationships with wholesale brokers and distribution partners Identify new production opportunities and actively contribute to territory strategy Collaborate with claims, actuarial, and leadership to optimize portfolio performance What We're Looking For 5-10+ years of E&S underwriting experience in commercial P&C lines Strong technical expertise in risk analysis, pricing, and contract structuring Established broker relationships within the Southern California market Proven track record of profitability and book growth Ability to operate autonomously while contributing to a collaborative team Why This Opportunity Join a well-capitalized, highly respected carrier with strong market presence in E&S Broad underwriting authority and autonomy to write business Competitive compensation + bonus structure tied to performance Clear path for continued leadership and portfolio ownership Flexible hybrid work environment If you're an experienced E&S underwriter looking for greater authority, market access, and growth potential, I'd welcome a confidential conversation.
