MSP-Financial Underwriter 3#26-12042 Louisville, KY All On-site Job Description Dental/Vision Financial Underwriter • The Senior Financial Underwriter computes rates for both renewing and prospective moderate to complex group Dental and Vision accounts. You will complete work assignments involving moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. • Job Description The Senior Financial Underwriter reports to the Manager, Financial Underwriting. You will prepare a variety of financial reports for large accounts and provides rationale and support to other areas within the organization and to clients regarding rate computations and financial activity. You will provide expense estimates and accurate analysis of financial exhibits. You will influence department's strategy. You will make decisions on moderately complex to complex issues regarding technical approach for project components, and work is performed without direction. You will exercise considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments. o Recommends and communicates products, and competitive pricing to meet customer requirements. o Reviews contracts and certificates, working with Product and Compliance areas to evaluate ability to match plans for takeover. o Has strong knowledge of manual rating systems as well as how to utilize experience, provider and management reporting data in making pricing decisions. o Negotiates with Sales and Account Management as needed in preparing offers for new and existing business. May connect with agents/brokers and clients as needed, to resolve risk, plan and rating concerns. o Responsible for administrative processing of cases, utilizing various UW tools, systems and databases to complete evaluations. o Effective documentation and communication of UW decisions. o Demonstrates strong time, organizational and desk management o Provides mentoring/coaching in development of technical skills of others, supporting the growth of the team. Conducts training for sales and/or underwriting staff as needed. o Participates in project work to develop or improve underwriting processes. • Additional Job Description Required Qualifications o Bachelor's degree or comparable experience o 5 or more years of underwriting Dental and Vision experience rated groups, and financial analysis/risk analysis experience o Comprehensive understanding of risk pool management o Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Access Preferred Qualifications o Master's Degree o Experience with other lines of group coverage, such as Life and Disability benefits Additional Information This is a remote position.
