Competitive base salary + bonus + full benefits A top 50 P&C insurance carrier is seeking a Senior Commercial Lines Underwriter to join its underwriting organization. This role offers the opportunity to underwrite complex commercial accounts within a disciplined, relationship-driven underwriting environment, supported by strong operational infrastructure and long-term market stability. Role Overview The Senior Commercial Lines Underwriter will be responsible for underwriting and managing a profitable book of commercial business while building strong partnerships with retail and/or select distribution partners. This role offers meaningful underwriting authority, collaboration with experienced leadership, and the ability to influence portfolio strategy as experience and tenure grow. Key Responsibilities Underwrite and manage a book of commercial lines business in accordance with underwriting guidelines and risk appetite Underwrite General Liability and property lines Evaluate, price, and structure risks across standard commercial P&C coverages Develop and maintain strong relationships with distribution partners and internal stakeholders Negotiate terms, conditions, and pricing to achieve balanced growth and profitability Monitor portfolio performance and make adjustments to ensure long-term results Actively contribute to underwriting strategy, product refinement, and portfolio management initiatives Provide mentorship and technical support to junior staff, as appropriate for senior/AVP-level hires Target Profile 5-20+ years of experience underwriting commercial P&C business Strong technical underwriting foundation and sound risk-selection judgment Experience handling complex middle-market and/or upper middle-market accounts Proven ability to manage broker/agent relationships and collaborate cross-functionally Comfortable operating with underwriting authority and independent decision-making Strong communication, negotiation, and analytical skills Level & Title Flexibility This search is flexible , with consideration for candidates at a minimum of 5 years of experience but ideally more. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
