Job Description:
The Associate Underwriter applies underwriting principles for groups of various sizes in the evaluation of risk for new and renewed groups.

Job Essentials 1. Applies underwriting principles for groups of various sizes in the evaluation of risk for new and renewed groups. 2. Assesses clients needs and matches appropriate products, rates and benefits 3. Defines population and computes and negotiates rates. 4. Reviews submitted proposal material for completeness and request missing information. 5. Inputs census information for generation of manual rates, submits rates, and prepares proposal information. 6. Creates proposals in a timely manner accurately reflecting rates and plan designs. Ensures consistency of proposal. 7. Assembles and reviews past claims experience on existing groups in order to determine the appropriate renewal rates and plans to offer. 8. Approves exceptions. 9. Completes underwriting analysis and rate/plan design on an assigned block of business. 10. Interfaces with the internal sales team as well as brokers and clients. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree and one year of experience as an underwriting analyst. Education must be obtained through an accredited institution. Degree will be verified.
