Investment Banking | Managing Director | Houston

Selby Jennings is engaged with a Houston based boutique investment bank is seeking an experienced Managing Director to join its generalist platform. The firm is FINRA registered and operates in a performance driven eat what you kill model while providing dedicated junior banker support to assist with execution. This role is ideal for a senior banker with a strong origination track record who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment and wants meaningful autonomy, upside, and the ability to build long term client relationships. The Role The Managing Director will be responsible for originating, leading, and closing investment banking engagements across a range of industries. You will own senior level client relationships, drive new business development, and lead transactions from initial pitch through closing. While revenue generation is core to the role, the platform provides junior banker support to ensure efficient execution and high quality client service. Key Responsibilities You will source and develop new client relationships, lead merger and acquisition and capital raising mandates, and manage all aspects of transaction execution. This includes client advisory, deal structuring, valuation oversight, and negotiation through close. You will also mentor junior team members, contribute to firm growth initiatives, and ensure adherence to FINRA and internal compliance standards. Qualifications The ideal candidate brings extensive experience in investment banking with a demonstrated history of successful deal origination and closures. A strong understanding of M&A and capital markets is essential, along with the ability to independently lead complex transactions. Active FINRA registrations are required, including Series 7 and Series 63. Prior experience mentoring or managing junior bankers is strongly preferred. Ideal Candidate Profile You are an entrepreneurial, self motivated banker with an established middle market network and the ability to generate your own deal flow. You are comfortable in a pay for performance compensation structure and value the flexibility and upside of a boutique platform.
