In this role, you will serve as the subject matter expert for Structures, ensuring our bridges and infrastructure are managed effectively through data-driven strategies. What You Need to Know To be successful in this role, you should possess the following experience:
Structural Expertise:
Experience with the design, analysis, and rating of structures.
Analytical Skills:
Experience in data modeling and prediction analysis.
Financial Insight:
A clear understanding of the relationship between financial investment and performance. About the Role You will be responsible for evaluating system performance, developing investment strategies, and setting data-driven performance targets. Your primary focus will be developing criteria, analyzing data, establishing strategies, and performing consistent analytics on complex structural datasets to maximize the benefits of UDOT's investments strategies. You will also establish and monitor long-term plans to improve our assets, incorporate risk management, and refine our decision-making trade-offs. While this position reports directly to the State Asset Management Director, it operates within a matrix organizational structure in coordination with the Structures Division. Daily tasks and operational priorities will be assigned by the Bridge Management Engineer. Position Details This position is open to both engineers and non-engineers.

Key Responsibilities Federal Compliance:
Prepare, manage and finalize federal compliance reporting for Structures, including the Transportation Asset Management Plan (TAMP) and the
Annual Consistency Report Software & Modeling:
Evaluate and recommend Structures asset management software and predictive modeling tools.
Tool Development & Software:
Develop specialized tools to advance reporting practices and perform analysis using bridge asset management software.
Modeling & Parameters:
Assess and define the technical parameters used for prediction modeling and asset management decision-making.
Performance Tracking:
Monitor performance targets and track funding for structures such as bridges, walls, and overhead signs.
Optimization:
Evaluate resource allocations to ensure the most efficient use of state funds.
Risk Management:
Identify infrastructure risks and help develop comprehensive mitigation plans.
Strategic Coordination:
Develop a strategic approach to asset management in coordination with other administrators to ensure statewide alignment.
Collaboration:
Coordinate with the ATOM team, state asset administrators, region asset coordinators, and internal/external stakeholders on all things related to Structures asset management.
Innovation & Lifecycle:
Coordinate innovative approaches to the entire asset lifecycle—including planning, construction, and maintenance—to minimize costs and risks. Qualifications Engineer Candidates ($48.10 - $76.27) Registered as a professional engineer (PE) in Utah. At least four (4) years of engineering experience following licensure as a PE. Non-engineer Candidates ($45.53 - $72.25) A Bachelor's degree (or higher) from an accredited institution in a related field AND at least eight (8) years of professional relevant experience in asset management or a closely related field.

Directly related professional experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis (e.g., 12 years of total related experience if no degree is held).
