$90,000•$120,000 per year Job Details•We are currently seeking a Permanent Underwriter with VA and FHA Mortgage Loan Experience to join our dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned professional to bring their expertise in financial and credit analysis, decision making, and loan processing to our fast-paced, customer-focused mortgage industry environment. As an underwriter, you will play a pivotal role in our organization, using your analytical skills and industry knowledge to evaluate loan applications and make informed decisions. This position requires 5+ years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities:
Conduct a thorough and comprehensive analysis of financial, credit, and employment data to determine borrower's creditworthiness. Evaluate mortgage loan applications according to VA and FHA guidelines. Make decisions about the approval or denial of loan applications based on the analysis of the borrower's capacity, capital, character, collateral, and conditions. Work closely with loan officers and loan processors to ensure a smooth loan process. Provide timely and accurate evaluations of loan applications, ensuring all relevant factors are considered. Maintain a working knowledge of all federal and state mortgage laws and regulations. Continuously stay updated on changes in VA and FHA guidelines and communicate these changes effectively to the team. Assist in the training of new underwriters and other staff members as necessary. Manage and resolve complex or difficult cases with minimal supervision.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in mortgage underwriting. Strong knowledge of VA and FHA mortgage loan guidelines. Proven experience in financial analysis, credit analysis, decision making, and loan processing. Excellent analytical and decision-making skills with the ability to process complex information and present it clearly and simply. Solid understanding of mortgage lending regulations and procedures. Proficient in relevant computer applications and platforms. Strong attention to detail, with a commitment to accuracy and quality. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize workload efficiently and meet strict deadlines. Strong customer service skills with a focus on delivering high-quality service to both internal and external customers.
