The ideal candidate will be committed to total quality, exceptional customer service, and teamwork. We are looking for a Relief Title Assistant who provides essential temporary or floating support for title companies and escrow firms. This role involves covering for staff absences, vacations, or surges in workload, and helps to process real estate transactions, clear title defects, and prepare legal documents for closing.
Core Responsibilities:
File Coverage:
Step into active escrow and title files for absent officers to ensure ongoing real estate transactions move smoothly.
  • Title & Lien Research:
    Conduct preliminary title searches to verify the legal conditions of properties, including existing mortgages and trust deeds.
  • Defect Curative Work:
    Resolve title defects (such as unpaid liens or encumbrances) by communicating with lenders, attorneys, and buyers.
  • Document Preparation:
    Coordinate, type, and draft closing documents, affidavits, amendments, and final closing instructions.
  • Customer Service & Scheduling:
    Handle high-volume inbound calls, answer client inquiries, and schedule closings with real estate agents, lenders, and title officers.
Closing Operations:
Record and file documents with the county and ensure the final distribution of closing statements and funds.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
  • Experience:
    Typically 1 to 3+ years of direct experience in the title insurance or escrow industry.
  • Adaptability:
    Ability to quickly adjust to new office environments, workflows, and proprietary software.
  • Tech Savviness:
    Familiarity with standard industry software (such as Qualia) and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Organization:
    Exceptional attention to detail and ability to track critical deadlines.
Communication:
Professional and clear verbal and written communication, as this role acts as a liaison between buyers, sellers, and agents.
