Continuing along it highly successful growth trajectory, SFFedCU is seeking an External Mortgage Loan Officer for our Golden Gate Branch in San Francisco. Role Overview The External Mortgage Loan Officer is responsible for originating residential mortgage loans, home equity lines of credit (HELOCs), and home equity loans while delivering exceptional service to members. As part of the Real Estate Production team, this role focuses on building relationships, generating loan applications, and guiding members through the mortgage process from application to closing. The Loan Officer ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements and contributes to the growth of the Credit Union's mortgage lending portfolio. Key Responsibilities Originate mortgage loans and HELOCs to meet individual production goals and contribute to overall team targets. Develop and maintain relationships with real estate agents, builders, and other referral sources to generate leads. Actively prospect for new business through networking events and community engagement. Provide expert guidance to members throughout the mortgage application and closing process, ensuring a smooth and positive experience. Maintain thorough knowledge of mortgage products, rates, and lending policies to recommend appropriate solutions to members. Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations governing mortgage lending activities. Collaborate with internal departments including underwriting, processing, and closing to ensure timely and accurate loan fulfillment. Maintain an active pipeline and manage loan files to meet deadlines and service standards. Participate in community and industry events to promote the Credit Union's mortgage services and build brand awareness. Stay informed on market trends, competitor offerings, and regulatory changes affecting mortgage lending. Uphold service level standards and contribute to performance metrics such as loan production, conversion rates, and member satisfaction. Who Are You? Required Qualifications Minimum of three (3) years of experience in residential mortgage lending or financial services. Proven track record of successful mortgage loan origination and relationship building. Active NMLS registration required, with strict adherence to all applicable regulatory and licensing requirements. This role requires the individual to maintain licensure in good standing and to proactively secure, transfer, or assign all necessary licenses to San Francisco Federal Credit Union to support business activities in required markets. Strong knowledge of mortgage lending regulations including Reg Z, Reg B, ECOA, FACTA,RESPA, and SCRA. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, results-driven environment. Strong interpersonal and public relations skills with a professional demeanor. Proficiency in loan origination systems and Microsoft Office Suite. Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
