Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
The Loan Officer is responsible for evaluating and underwriting loan applications, including secured and unsecured. This role involves analyzing credit reports, structuring loan approvals or counteroffers, ensuring compliance with credit union policies and regulations, and providing exceptional member service. The Loan Officer works closely with loan processors as part of a team to support the lending process while identifying opportunities to cross-sell additional credit union products and services.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Loan Underwriting:
Evaluate and underwrite loan applications in accordance with credit union policies, state, and federal regulations.Credit Analysis:
Analyze credit reports and financial information to make informed lending decisions.Member Communication:
Notify members of loan decisions, provide explanations for denials, and offer recommendations or alternative financing options.Loan Documentation:
Maintain accurate records, make clear and precise notes, and ensure loan files are complete.Exceptional Member Service:
Assist members by providing financial guidance and credit counseling when needed.Cross-Selling Credit Union Products:
Identify opportunities to offer additional credit union products and services that meet members' financial needs.Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure all loans comply with Skyward CU policies, state lending laws, and NCUA regulations.Team Collaboration:
Maintain open communication with loan processors and other team members to ensure an efficient lending process.Lending Partner Collaboration:
Communicate with dealers and other 3rd party lending partners to achieve department goals.Additional Duties:
Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED required; college coursework in finance or business preferred. Minimum of 2 years of underwriting experience is preferred In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements applicable to credit unions. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with staff, management, and regulatory agencies. High level of integrity and ethical standards.WORK ENVIRONMENT
Office environment with occasional travel to branch locations. Full-time position, requiring occasional [evening or weekend] work as required.BENEFITS
