POSITION PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES
The Underwriter III is responsible for complete analysis of loan packages to deliver valid credit decision and ensure the loan file is eligible for funding according to bank, investor, and agency guidelines. Additionally, this position has exception authority provided the DTI doesn't exceed 43% of the published lending authority chart. Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of 5 years mortgage underwriting experience required.
  • 1 year FHA - Direct Endorsement (DE) certification required.
VA - LAPP
approved preferred.
  • Kentucky Housing Corporation delegation preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Loan Prospector, Desktop Underwriter and FHA Connection.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and internet applications.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Underwrite Portfolio and Secondary market loans in accordance with agency/bank guidelines including
FHA, VA, RHS
(rural housing) and Jumbo loans.
  • Ensure application packages are complete before forwarding to processing area.
  • Perform timely reviews of loan submissions and conditions.
  • Work as a liaison between our lenders and processing to correct deficiencies in pending files.
  • Knowledgeable of all loan programs offered & requirements of those programs. Work with the lenders in the banking centers to further their knowledge of secondary market & portfolio guidelines.
  • Effectively communicate with branch personnel, loan officers, originators, and centralized loan personnel.
  • Be an expert resource for Loan Officer inquiries.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of compliance requirements affecting your position and area of responsibilities and actively learn new regulations and assist in the implementation, if required.
  • Model and foster behaviors that support the Bank's values and corporate culture creating an atmosphere of trust, cooperation, accountability, and dedication to the organization.
  • Willingly perform all other duties and projects as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Travel between Republic Banking facilities may be required including occasional out of town travel.
  • Flexible work schedule may include some evenings, weekends and/or overtime.
  • Stay abreast of new developments, best practices, and statutory and regulatory changes.
