VP/Commercial Portfolio Manager II

The VP/Commercial Portfolio Manager II provides strategic support to the East Region Commercial & Industrial Banking team. This role focuses on managing portfolio risk, supporting credit analysis, and assisting with special projects to ensure strong client relationships and sound credit practices.

Responsibilities Portfolio & Client Management:

Partner with commercial banking leadership and designated bankers to manage existing client relationships and evaluate potential new clients. Assist with onboarding customers, ensuring a smooth process through coordination with internal teams (Loan Coordinator, Treasury Management, Credit, etc.). Monitor booked credit facilities, including interim financial reviews, borrowing base reviews, covenant compliance testing, annual reviews, and problem loan administration.

Credit Analysis & Risk Management:

Analyze financial statements and prepare credit proposals for existing and prospective clients. Review loan committee presentations, annual credit reviews, and problem loan summaries. Maintain reporting infrastructure and develop portfolio trend reports to monitor risk and industry guidance. Administer nonperforming loans and support risk mitigation strategies.

Strategic Support & Leadership:

Assist in establishing and negotiating credit terms, including costs, repayment methods, and collateral requirements. Mentor junior Portfolio Managers and assist in training future bankers and coordinators. Support preparation of materials for team meetings, executive reports, audits, and regulatory examinations.

Education, Experience, and Other Expectations:

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field; or equivalent experience required. Seven or more years of experience in commercial credit, commercial lending, or financial examination. Proven experience with commercial lending and portfolio management. Familiarity with loan documentation and regulatory compliance requirements. Experience in risk assessment and managing problem loans.

Skills and Knowledge:

Strong credit analysis and financial modeling skills. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively. Knowledge of commercial lending guidelines and industry best practices. Ability to independently structure and negotiate non-complex loan transactions. Ability to provide meaningful support for credit structuring and negotiating on more complex loan transactions, including reviewing loan documentation for accuracy. High level of attention to detail and accuracy. Commitment to customer service excellence and relationship building.
