Job Description

Job Summary Responsible for developing, originating, underwriting, servicing, and managing commercial lending relationships for the credit union. This position supports the credit union's strategic growth objectives by identifying business development opportunities, building strong member relationships, and managing a commercial loan portfolio while maintaining sound underwriting and risk management practices. The Commercial Lender serves as the primary point of contact for business members throughout the life of the lending relationship. Duties Develop and maintain commercial lending relationships with new and existing business members. Identify opportunities to grow the credit union's commercial loan portfolio through networking, referrals, community involvement, and member outreach. Serve as the primary relationship manager for commercial members and provide ongoing support throughout the lending relationship. Interview applicants and collect financial and supporting documentation necessary to evaluate loan requests. Assist members with the loan application process in person, on the phone, or electronically to ensure completeness of information. Analyze commercial loan applications, business financial statements, tax returns, cash flow, collateral, and credit history. Exercise independent judgment in evaluating credit risk, determining appropriate loan structures, and developing solutions that meet both member needs and the credit union's risk management objectives. Structure loan terms and make sound underwriting recommendations consistent with credit union policy and risk tolerance. Prepare loan presentations, credit memorandums, and supporting documentation for approval. Manage and monitor an assigned commercial loan portfolio, including annual reviews, covenant monitoring, risk rating maintenance, and portfolio performance. Maintain regular contact with borrowers to assess financial condition, identify potential risks, and strengthen member relationships. Assist with delinquency management, collections, renewals, modifications, and workout arrangements when necessary. Ensure all commercial loans are originated, documented, and serviced in compliance with credit union policy and applicable laws and regulations. Partner with branch staff and other departments to promote commercial products and services and enhance member relationships. Maintain knowledge of market trends, local business conditions, and commercial lending best practices. Meet established production, growth, portfolio quality, and member service goals. Enthusiastically support the credit union's focus on member sales and service. • Actively seek out sales opportunities and cross-sell opportunities and promote credit union products and services based on member needs. • Consistently meet or exceed sales goals to support overall credit union sales and financial goals. Represent and promote the credit union at external community and industry events, earning the minimum required number of Community Involvement Points (CIP's) per year. Cross-train and backup other team members for selected critical job functions. Other duties as assigned. Experience Proven experience in banking or financial services with a focus on commercial lending and business development Strong background in credit analysis, underwriting, risk management, and portfolio management principles Demonstrated ability in sales, negotiation, and upselling within a financial context Familiarity with financial concepts such as cash flow analysis, loan processing, and financial software applications Excellent customer service skills with a track record of building long-term client relationships Ability to analyze complex financial data accurately using math skills and financial acumen

$71,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
