POSITION SUMMARY
Are you passionate about making a positive impact in the community while helping individuals and families achieve their dream of homeownership? Are you a Mortgage Loan Officer and interested in becoming a Community Lending Mortgage Officer? My Way Home is seeking dedicated mortgage loan originators to help expand their lending expertise (learning and training and use of Down Payment Assistance Programs and Special Purpose Credit Programs) so that together we can help families and individuals achieve that dream of homeownership. The Community Mortgage Loan Specialist works under the supervision of the Deputy Director. This position is subject to the Dodd Frank/Truth in Lending Act qualification requirements for Loan Originators. As such, an employment offer for this position is contingent on My Way Home's review of criminal conviction history, credit report, and information available through the National Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) and any other information relevant information to demonstrate financial responsibility, good character and general fitness for the position. Continued employment in this position would be contingent upon compliance with Truth in Lending Act/Dodd Frank Loan Originator Requirements.

My Way Home is a real estate broker licensed under the California Department of Real Estate (DRE) thus Community Mortgage Loan Specialists are required to hold a valid DRE license.
Kern County applicants:
This role will begin fully remote, with a transition to hybrid or in-office. Applicants must reside in Kern County. The transition timeline will be based on operational needs and office readiness.
Ventura County applicants:
this role is fully onsite at our main office in Oxnard, CA. SALARY The position offers a starting salary of $47,760 per year, with additional bonus opportunities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following satisfactorily: Cultivate, secure, and maintain referral relationships with
REALTORS
®, builders, community partners, employers, networking groups, and other referral sources to generate mortgage loan opportunities and expand My Way Home's client base. Conduct borrower consultations, interview loan applicants, analyze financial information, and evaluate creditworthiness to determine loan eligibility. Educate clients on available mortgage products, down payment assistance programs, and affordable homeownership opportunities. Originate residential mortgage loans by collecting documentation, completing loan applications, and ensuring accurate and timely submission of loan files. Adhere to secondary market and mortgage insurance guidelines Review loan applications for preliminary approval or denial based on investor, secondary market and organizational guidelines. Ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state lending regulations, agency requirements, and company policies. Work collaboratively with loan processors, underwriters, housing counselors, and other team members to facilitate a smooth loan process from application through closing. Share responsibility with the Mortgage Lending team for presenting at Homebuyer Workshops, educational seminars, and community events, including occasional evenings and Saturdays. Represent My Way Home at community outreach events Perform other duties as assigned in support of My Way Home's mission and strategic goals.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of 3 years of proven experience originating residential mortgage loans. Active Nationwide Multistate Licensing System (NMLS) endorsement and California Department of Real Estate Mortgage Loan Originator license required. Valid California driver's license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel regularly throughout Kern County, with occasional travel to Ventura, Santa Barbara, and Los Angeles Counties. Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, REALTORS®, builders, and community partners to generate and retain business. Knowledge of conventional, FHA, VA, and
FNMA/FHLMC
lending guidelines, mortgage insurance requirements, and secondary market standards. Knowledge of down payment assistance programs is highly desirable. Ability to analyze borrower financial information and provide consultative lending recommendations based on the client's financial needs, goals, and circumstances. Ability to maintain the confidentiality of borrower financial information, credit reports, and other sensitive data in compliance with federal and state regulations. Working knowledge of federal and state real estate lending laws, regulations, and compliance requirements. Knowledge of the Kern County and/or Ventura County real estate and mortgage lending markets preferred. Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal, and presentation skills Ability to work effectively with borrowers from diverse cultural, economic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, loan origination systems, and mortgage software, including Calyx Point or similar platforms. Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred. Ability to represent My Way Home with professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to exceptional customer service.
PHYSICAL REQIREMENTS
Ability to sit for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally. Ability to travel locally for outreach and client meetings. Ability to operate standard office equipment.
