• Overview
• We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical
• Mortgage Underwriter
• to evaluate and underwrite a variety of mortgage loan products in compliance with federal and state regulations.

In this role, you will assess credit risk, analyze borrower documentation, and make sound lending decisions that support both organizational goals and customer success. This position offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment, where your expertise will directly impact loan quality and portfolio performance.

• Key Responsibilities
• Assess mortgage loan applications by reviewing income, assets, credit, and collateral documentation to determine eligibility and risk.
• Ensure compliance with internal underwriting guidelines, investor requirements, and regulatory standards.
• Evaluate complex financial scenarios, including self-employed borrower income.
• Analyze loan exceptions and recommend alternative solutions or products when applicable.
• Approve or decline loans based on a thorough and accurate review of all documentation.
• Determine the marketability and adequacy of real estate collateral used to secure loans.
• Prepare clear and compliant adverse action notices when necessary.
• Review real estate contracts and conditions (e.g., HOA requirements, age-restricted communities) for potential impacts on lending decisions.
• Collaborate closely with loan originators and processors to ensure complete and accurate documentation.
• Conduct secondary reviews of suspended or declined loans as needed.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to team members, including processors, closers, and loan officers.
• Stay current on updates to mortgage products, underwriting guidelines, and regulatory changes.
• Support training initiatives by helping maintain accurate and up-to-date materials.
• Participate in research and continuous improvement activities.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

• This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pittsburgh, PA.
• Pay and Benefits
• The pay range for this position is $22.02 - $39.93/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
