Banking Full Job Description Position Purpose:
Prepare, process, and close mortgage loans in accordance with investor and/or government agency guidelines.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare mortgage loans for closing for multiple loan officers, in multiple branches. Create and maintain accurate loan files before and after closing and ensure compliance with bank procedures. Build relationships with loan officers by monitoring deadlines, maintaining communication, and being responsive to requests for information. Manage monthly closings in a consistent and timely manner. Prepare accurate loan closing documents in accordance with written loan approval, including Closing Disclosure review and approval. Submit closed file documentation to Loan Operations for booking into Firstar's system. Build relationships with title company personnel, realtors, and other related parties. Prepare wire Instructions for closing. Assist in post-closing as needed, including, guaranties, title policies, deficiencies for Investor, quality control, government agencies, etc. Assist in any post-closing conditions. Complete pre-funding audit tasks on all files. Crosstrain in other areas of the Mortgage Department to serve as a back up to Mortgage Processors. Remain aware and knowledgeable of industry changes to products and guidelines. Maintain knowledge of and ensure compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act. Complete required annual training and maintain knowledge relevant to the role. Participate in bank and community initiatives to strengthen visibility and reinforce Firstar's commitment to the communities it serves. Perform additional responsibilities as assigned in support of the Bank's priorities and objectives.
Skills and Abilities Required:
Strong computer skills; working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel required, experience with Encompass Loan Software preferred. Responsiveness in a fast paced, fluid environment and be held to minimum production standards while maintaining excellent organizational skills. The ability to build relationships in a team-oriented environment. Excellent written and oral communication skills as well as the ability to read and understand basic policies and procedures. Proactive; desire to identify opportunities rather than react to problems. Strong attention to detail; accuracy with numbers, consistency and completeness are critical. High integrity and outstanding work ethic; ability to maintain confidentiality is a requirement Strong sense of initiative; self-motivated; work well without close supervision. Multitasking.
Experience and Education Requirements:
Minimum three (3) year experience working in a mortgage lending environment. High School diploma, or equivalent.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, with occasional standing and walking throughout the office. Occasional bending, reaching or stooping as needed to retrieve files, office supplies, or materials. May occasionally lift and/or move items up to 25 pounds (e.g., files, office supplies, packages.) Requires the ability to communicate effectively, including the use of visual acuity for reviewing documents and screens and auditory ability for conversations in person and by phone. Core Values in
