Job Description

The HMDA Review Assistant plays a key role in supporting mortgage compliance operations by reviewing 1-4 family real estate loan files for HMDA accuracy, assisting with regulatory research, and coordinating with processors and loan officers to ensure compliance standards are met. This position also provides administrative and clerical support to the Mortgage Operations team and contributes to the smooth processing of mortgage loans
Primary Duties:
HMDA Compliance Support Review mortgage loan files to ensure compliance with HMDA reporting requirements. Complete monthly HMDA data scrubs and respond to audit and compliance requests in a timely manner. Assist in preparing accurate HMDA Loan Application Register (LAR) submissions for regulatory agencies. Stay informed of HMDA regulation updates by coordinating with compliance and audit teams. Support training efforts by helping educate processors and officers on HMDA-related issues and resolutions. Mortgage Processing Assistance Assist with ordering and tracking third-party documents such as tax transcripts, appraisals, title binders, insurance, VOEs/VODs, and LDP/GSA checks. Review documents for completeness and accuracy under the direction of managers. Scan, copy, and organize mortgage documentation as needed. Monitor daily reports (e.g., Closing Calendar, Compliance, Appraisal) and communicate updates to staff. Collaborate with internal and external auditors during reviews and examinations.

Job Skills Required:
Bachelor's degree in business or similar field preferred; or equivalent experience in mortgage/banking industry. 1-2 years of experience in administrative role supporting loan processing, preferred. Experience with HMDA regulations and mortgage documentation. Strong attention to detail and ability to identify inconsistencies or missing data. Excellent time management and organizational skills. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in computer systems and keyboarding. Self-motivated with a problem-solving mindset.
