QUALITY CONTROL AND CLOSING SPECIALIST - JOB
# 11-26 All correspondence must refer to a specific job number. The Quality Control & Closing Specialist is responsible for reviewing commercial and consumer loans to ensure they adhere to the bank's loan policy and procedures and completing post review on all booked loans. Additionally, this group is responsible for engaging all outside services (appraiser, attorney, title company, etc.) for commercial loan requests which requires attorney-prepared documents, ensure the bank's interests are protected and clear the loans to close.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Review all commercial and consumer loan packages presented by lending teams for processing, and determine if they are compliant with regulations, policies, and procedures. If compliant, approve and process and if not, work with the lending team to achieve a timely resolution. Engage attorney, appraiser, title company, etc. for QC approved packages as requested by lending teams. Continue to work with all parties to ensure a smooth and timely closing, review and approve settlement statement for accuracy, prepare funding paperwork as well as resolving all open items before and after closing. Order appraisals for new and existing loans, including commercial loans, consumer residential loans, equipment, and vessel loans. Request bid quotes and prepare/send engagement letter to appraiser. Communicate with appraiser through the process as needed. • Perform review of appraisals as outlined in loan policy. Obtain all proper insurance for new loans and have reviewed according to procedures. Review attorney prepared and internally prepared loan documents, closing disclosures, etc. per procedures, for accuracy prior to releasing them for loan closings. Review all booked loans after indexing to ensure that the loan remained compliant with lending policies and federal regulations throughout the entire process. Should an error (data entry or otherwise) be found the Quality Control Specialist is responsible with getting with the proper staff to resolve the error and document the Post-QC checklist accordingly. Maintain various reports as required, including pipeline status updates, fee reports, the Loan Exception Report and OFAC report. Other reporting as requested.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
Serve as backup function to index all loan documentation and other items to Synergy. Review releases, advances and other documents as requested. Assist with projects as assigned. Review other Loan Operations output for accuracy as requested by the Loan Processing Supervisor and Loan Operations Manager. All other duties and projects necessary to support the goals and objectives of the Loan Operations department.
Job Requirements:
Education and Experience:
High School or equivalent required. Some college preferred. 3-years banking experience or related field.
Skills and Abilities:
Must be detail-oriented, organized Proficient with Microsoft applications (i.e., Word, Excel, etc.), Have a strong understanding of loan documents, lien perfection, insurance and escrow requirements, and bank software systems. Responsible for "closing desk" functions; it is vital to remain abreast of regulatory requirements and changes.
Excellent Communication skills:
all levels of bank personnel and outside contacts are a must. Must demonstrate a mastery of tasks and time management skills and require minimal supervision.
