Full Job Description Position Title:
Night Auditor (Part-Time, Full-Time) Reports to: Front Office Manager /
General Manager Job Summary:
The Part-Time Night Auditor is responsible for overseeing all front desk operations and completing the daily financial audit during the overnight shift. This role is a combination of accounting and guest services, ensuring that all financial transactions from the previous day are reconciled and that guests receive excellent service during the late hours. The ideal candidate is reliable, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Audit:
Perform a nightly audit of all financial transactions, including room revenue, food and beverage charges, and credit card payments. Reconcile all cash, credit card, and direct billing accounts from the day's activities. Prepare and distribute daily management reports, including occupancy and revenue summaries. Investigate and resolve any discrepancies or out-of-balance accounts. Process and close out all credit card batches for the day.
Front Desk Operations:
Serve as the primary point of contact for guests during the overnight shift. Perform guest check-ins and check-outs, and handle new reservations. Address guest inquiries, requests, and complaints in a professional and timely manner. Answer incoming phone calls and direct them to the appropriate department or individual. Maintain the security of the hotel by monitoring surveillance systems and conducting routine property checks.
Administrative & Other Duties:
Prepare for the next day's operations by organizing reports and ensuring the front desk is clean and stocked. Provide wake-up calls and assist with other guest services as needed. Communicate any important information or issues from the night shift to the daytime team for a smooth transition. Handle any emergencies or unusual situations that may arise, following established protocols. May be required to assist with other tasks such as setting up the complimentary breakfast or basic laundry. Laundry duties during shift.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; a degree or certificate in accounting or hospitality is a plus. Previous experience in a hotel front desk, accounting, or customer service role is highly preferred. Strong basic math and accounting skills. Proficiency with computers and hotel property management systems (PMS) is essential. Excellent customer service and communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to work independently and make sound decisions without direct supervision. Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy. Must be able to work overnight shifts, including weekends and holidays.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Manual dexterity to operate a computer, phone, and other office equipment. Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
