Job Description Payroll Manager •Work in office •San Antonio Job Summary The Payroll Manager is responsible for overseeing daily payroll operations and ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for employees across multiple departments. This position manages payroll staff, maintains compliance with payroll laws and regulations, supports reporting and audits, and coordinates payroll activities with Human Resources and internal departments. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Manage daily payroll operations for full-time, part-time, seasonal, civilian, and uniformed employees. Supervise payroll staff, assign workflow priorities, and monitor payroll processing timelines. Ensure payroll accuracy including earnings, deductions, taxes, leave balances, and direct deposits. Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, policies, and procedures. Review and process payroll adjustments, off-cycle payrolls, garnishments, and payroll corrections. Coordinate payroll reporting including monthly, quarterly, and annual filings such as W-2s and 941 reports. Monitor payroll records, reconciliations, and financial documentation for accuracy and completeness. Respond to payroll inquiries and resolve employee payroll discrepancies in a timely manner. Support internal and external payroll audits by preparing reports and required documentation. Maintain confidentiality of payroll records and employee information. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field preferred. Minimum of 5 years of payroll experience with progressive responsibility. Minimum of 3 years of supervisory or leadership experience preferred. Experience processing high-volume payrolls in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of payroll regulations, tax reporting, wage laws, and accounting practices. Experience with payroll systems such as SAP or similar payroll software preferred. Technical Skills SAP Payroll or related payroll systems Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook Payroll reporting and reconciliation Data analysis and record management Timekeeping and payroll software systems
