M-F About the Role The Payroll Manager supports both accounting and payroll functions by assisting with payroll processing and performing routine accounting tasks to help maintain accurate financial records. This role works closely with the accounting, HR, and operations teams to ensure employees are paid accurately and on time while supporting general accounting activities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Assist with processing weekly (union) and bi-weekly payroll, including data entry, timecard review, and payroll adjustments Maintain payroll records and employee pay information in compliance with federal, state, and company policies and regulations Respond to employee payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner Assist with multi-state payroll tax filings, garnishments, and benefit deductions Prepare certified payroll and payroll-related reports in accordance with prevailing wage and compliance requirements Assist with journal entries related to payroll and general ledger activity Maintain organized and accurate accounting and payroll files and supporting documentation Prepare month-end closing entries and general ledger account reconciliations Perform other payroll, accounting, and administrative duties as assigned Experience Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred (Associate's or Bachelor's degree) 1 - 3 years of relevant experience in payroll, accounting, or a combined payroll/accounting role Basic understanding of payroll processes, wage and hour laws, and accounting principles Experience with payroll systems and general accounting software Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a deadline-driven environment Experience in a manufacturing or construction-related environment is a plus Skills Resourceful, strong problem-solving abilities, able to prioritize and multitask Detail oriented and organized Able to communicate effectively with strong interpersonal skills and a sense of humor Team player with a positive attitude Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision High level of integrity and professionalism MEI's 50+ years in the elevator industry gives us an unparalleled ability to handle both custom and standard elevator projects with ease.
