This role is ideal for someone who has personally owned payroll from start to finish and understands payroll as both a technical process and a compliance function—not a handoff to a third party. The Payroll Manager serves as the primary owner of payroll accuracy and controls across the organization. You will manage each payroll cycle end‑to‑end: validating inputs, auditing data before payroll is finalized, processing payroll internally, and performing post‑payroll audits to ensure accuracy and compliance. This position requires someone who is comfortable digging into data, identifying discrepancies, and correcting issues before they ever reach a team member's paycheck. You will also be expected to quickly learn and adapt to payroll systems and tools, even if you have limited prior experience with them. Strong Fit If You:
Have owned payroll from front to end, not just reviewed or approved it. Are confident running pre‑payroll audits and post‑payroll reconciliations. Consider accuracy non‑negotiable. Have very strong Excel skills and regularly use spreadsheets to audit and validate payroll data. Can quickly learn new payroll systems and workflows. Prefer controlling the payroll process in‑house rather than relying on a third‑party processor.Payroll Processing & Audit Control:
Manage the complete bi‑weekly payroll process internally from start to finish. Conduct detailed pre‑payroll audits to validate hours, rates, commissions, and adjustments. Execute payroll runs with a focus on precision, timeliness, and compliance. Perform post‑payroll audits and reconciliations to confirm accuracy and resolve discrepancies. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and wage & hour regulations.Data Accuracy & Excel Analysis:
Use advanced Excel skills to audit payroll data, analyze variances, and identify trends. Reconcile payroll reports and investigate inconsistencies. Maintain thorough documentation of payroll controls and audit processes.Systems & Process Ownership:
Own payroll processing within Dayforce and related systems. Quickly learn system functionality and apply it correctly, even with limited prior exposure. Identify opportunities to improve payroll workflows, audit steps, and controls. Partner with HR and Accounting to support reporting, budgeting, and month‑end processing.Support & Collaboration:
Serve as escalation point for payroll discrepancies or concerns. Provide clear guidance to leaders and team members regarding payroll questions. Maintain strict confidentiality and professionalism at all times.Education and Experience:
Required:
5 years of payroll or closely related experience. High School Diploma or GED. A motivated, well-organized, and self-directed individual who is also able to motivate and guide others. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, percentages, area, and volume. Proficient with state and federal employment regulations and laws. Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel. Proficiency in Microsoft Suite including SharePoint, Word, Outlook, and Teams. Proficiency of the English language in reading, writing and verbal communication.Preferred:
Associate degree in accounting, business or a related field preferred. Certified Payroll Professional Certificate. Three or more years of related Human Resources experience is preferred. Previous experience working with a SaaS (Software as a Service) Human Capital System.Benefits:
