Job Description
Payroll Manager:
A large New York-based organization is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to support and co-lead a busy payroll department serving approximately 3,000 employees across multiple entities . This position works fully onsite, partnering closely with the Payroll Director and overseeing a team of five Payroll Processors. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in New York payroll laws , union payroll , and high-volume weekly payroll operations.Key Responsibilities:
- Manage payroll staff to ensure timely, accurate weekly payroll for multiple business units.
- Leverage feedback from facility-level teams to make operational adjustments.
- Oversee payroll account transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, deductions, taxes, and third-party payments.
- Coordinate timekeeping and payroll systems; prior Paycor experience is a significant plus.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and internal controls.
- Support contract review as it relates to payroll terms, union rules, and tax implications.
- Communicate regularly with the Payroll Director and CFO to address issues, align on goals, and implement improvements.
- Ensure accurate reporting, including PBJ submissions and cost report support.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience as a Payroll Manager, Payroll Supervisor, or equivalent leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of New York payroll procedures, tax laws, and filing requirements .
- Union payroll experience is required.
- Experience managing weekly payroll for a large workforce (high-volume environment).
- Demonstrated leadership ability and experience guiding payroll teams.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills and high attention to detail.
- Experience with Paycor is highly beneficial.
