02 The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
Responsibilities:
Organizes and directs the day-to-day operations of the processing group which is responsible for Payroll processing systems. Exercises knowledge of established guidelines, policies, procedures, and application tools available to ensure the issuance of employee paychecks on time with no exceptions for all customers including employes, departments, and government agencies. Organizes and directs training for payroll staff and user departments, as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Directs the gathering, processing, and proper safeguarding of human resources and payroll information required for the preparation of checks. Applies thorough knowledge of all University payrolls, including all University policies and terms of collective bargaining agreements to effectively execute actions and provide/interpret reports. Establishes processing schedules and coordinates to ensure timely and accurate flow of data, review of edit and diagnostic lists, processing of file maintenance reports retrieval of other related data. Serves as the frontline point of service customer contact in providing information and resolving issues pertaining to but limited to payroll applications. Supervises and directs the work of subordinate staff. May supervise temporary staff for special assignments. Provides and implements ongoing training programs for Payroll processing staff. Assumes management responsibility of Payroll in the absence of leadership. Assists payroll leadership in serving as liaison to HRIS for payroll data processing needs. Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in disciplines such as business, accounting or computer science required 2 years of related experience with demonstrated experience in system analysis, methods improvements and administrative data processing applications. 1 year of supervisory experience; required or equivalent combination of education and experience required The University of Rochester is committed to fostering, cultivating, and preserving an inclusive and welcoming culture to advance the University's Mission to Learn, Discover, Heal, Create
