Job Description

This position is on-site at our Store Support Center in Sunbury, Pennsylvania with potential for a hybrid work schedule. Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time. The Manager of Payroll is responsible for overseeing payroll operations in a high-volume, multi-state retail environment, ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing in accordance with corporate policy and all federal, state and local regulations. This role partners with Human Resources, Finance, IT and Store Operations teams to effectively resolve payroll issues, support payroll and HCM related system initiatives and maintain strong internal controls.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The associate may be responsible for the functions below, in addition to other duties as assigned: Manage end-to-end payroll processing for salaried and hourly associates across multiple pay groups, locations and regular and irregular pay cycles. Ensure compliance with federal, state and local laws, regulations and reporting requirements. Oversee payroll tax filings, reconciliations, W-2s and year-end processing. Maintain payroll guidelines to ensure adequate internal controls and compliance with corporate policies, SOX requirements and regulatory standards. Prepare and analyze ad-hoc payroll reports. Build strong partnerships with associates and leaders across Finance, Human Resources, Operations and IT departments. Communicate in a concise and professional manner while prioritizing and multitasking in a fast-paced, deadline-driven role. Develop payroll associates by coaching and preparing them for new assignments of increasing complexity. Partner with cross functional departments and system vendors to support payroll, time and attendance, and HCM system enhancements, upgrades, and issue resolution—ensuring thorough testing and minimal impact to store operations. Communicate openly with other department executives on financial issues. Partner with internal and external auditors to support quarterly reviews and the annual audit, including preparation of schedules, documentation, and reconciliations related to payroll. Work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed to support retail payroll cycles and year‑end activities. Supervisory Responsibilities This position provides direct supervision to one Payroll Supervisor and indirect supervision of Payroll Clerks. Responsibilities include performance management, coaching, workload prioritization, and staff development. Qualification Requirements To perform this job successfully, the associate must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required. Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. High School diploma or GED required Minimum of 5 years of experience in a payroll department, including at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role At least 2 years of experience using Workday Payroll preferred, or a comparable combination of PeopleSoft and Workday Payroll Certifications (Preferred) Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC)
Pay:
$88,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
