Payroll and Retirement Manager Location:
Providence RI Schedule:
Hybrid after onboarding,
Monday-Friday Salary:
$100,000-$120,000 Local, growing corporation is seeking an experienced Payroll and Retirement Manager to oversee payroll operations, retirement plan administration, payroll accounting, compliance, and HRIS projects. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented payroll leader with experience supporting large employee populations, multi-state payroll, payroll reconciliations, and retirement plan processes. Responsibilities Manage payroll operations for up to 1,800 employees during peak season Support payroll for salaried, hourly, and tipped employees Ensure payroll compliance across Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and other applicable states Maintain payroll system processes, including GL mapping, compliance updates, new business unit setup, and system improvements Support the company's HRIS transition from Paycom to Rippling Prepare payroll journal entries, accruals, reclasses, and cash adjustments Own payroll balance sheet reconciliations, including payroll, FSA, 401(k), PTO, and payroll bank accounts Manage annual 401(k) and ESOP retirement plan administration Partner with HR, finance, auditors, attorneys, TPAs, and internal stakeholders Support ERISA compliance, required communications, testing, corrections, and compliance reporting Qualifications 5-7 years of payroll, payroll accounting, HRIS, or retirement plan experience Experience supporting payroll for 800+ employees Knowledge of Rhode Island and Massachusetts payroll laws Experience with payroll systems and strong platform management skills Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills Ability to manage competing deadlines and complex payroll processes Experience with Paycom, Rippling, multi-state payroll, ESOP, 401(k), or ERISA compliance preferred Prior supervisory or project management experience preferred Benefits This opportunity offers a competitive salary, hybrid schedule, generous
