Job Description

At The University of Tennessee Medical Center, every paycheck matters. As our Payroll Supervisor, you'll play a key leadership role ensuring more than just payroll accuracy—you'll help deliver an exceptional experience for our team members while leading payroll operations for a large, complex healthcare organization. What You'll Do As Payroll Supervisor, you'll oversee the day-to-day payroll operations while partnering with Human Resources, Finance, department leaders, and timekeepers across the organization.
Responsibilities include:
Supervise and support Payroll team members while promoting a culture of accountability and customer service. Coordinate biweekly and monthly payroll processing for multiple employee groups. Review payroll for accuracy and ensure employees are paid correctly and on time. Resolve payroll discrepancies, adjustments, retroactive payments, and complex payroll issues. Monitor timekeeping, leave balances, and payroll compliance. Partner with managers and department timekeepers to answer payroll questions and provide training. Analyze payroll reports and trends while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency. Assist with quarterly and year-end payroll activities, audits, tax reporting, and compliance. Help develop and improve payroll processes and internal controls. What We're Looking For We're looking for someone who enjoys both the technical and leadership side of payroll. Required Qualifications Associate degree required 3-5 years of payroll experience Experience processing payroll in a complex organization Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Excellent customer service and communication abilities Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree Healthcare payroll experience UKG (Kronos) experience Infor Lawson experience Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) Success in This Role You'll be successful if you: Enjoy leading and developing others Thrive in a fast-paced environment Have strong analytical and problem-solving skills Can manage competing priorities while maintaining accuracy Build positive relationships across departments Continuously look for ways to improve processes and efficiencies Why UT Medical?
