Full-Time | Exempt Confidential Search Conducted by KOO Recruit KOO Recruit is conducting a highly confidential search for an experienced and strategic Director of Payroll on behalf of a well-established and rapidly growing organization in the Dallas, TX area. This leadership role will oversee all payroll operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, confidentiality, and operational excellence across the organization. The ideal candidate will bring deep payroll expertise, strong leadership capabilities, and experience managing both union and non-union payroll environments in a fast-paced setting. Key Responsibilities Lead, manage, and oversee all payroll operations and payroll department personnel Ensure payroll processes are accurate, timely, and compliant with all federal, state, local, and applicable labor regulations Manage payroll administration for both union and non-union employee populations Maintain strict confidentiality related to employee compensation and payroll information Develop, implement, and improve payroll policies, procedures, controls, and workflows Coordinate and direct specialized payroll functions and reporting activities Oversee payroll schedules, timelines, reconciliations, and reporting requirements Prepare and reconcile annual W-2 reporting Partner cross-functionally with Accounting, Human Resources, Benefits, and Risk Management teams Support audits by preparing documentation and working directly with external auditors Supervise, mentor, train, and evaluate payroll staff Identify process improvements and implement operational efficiencies within payroll systems and procedures Assist with payroll budgeting, forecasting, and expenditure monitoring Ensure compliance with all applicable payroll laws, tax regulations, union agreements, and company policies Provide payroll-related guidance and training to internal stakeholders Other duties as assigned
Qualifications Required:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field 10+ years of progressive payroll experience Minimum 3 years of leadership or supervisory experience Experience managing payroll for both union and non-union employees Strong understanding of payroll operations, compliance, tax regulations, and reporting requirements Experience managing complex payroll environments and payroll systems Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills Strong communication and leadership abilities High level of professionalism and discretion handling confidential information
Preferred:
Experience with ADP and Oracle payroll systems strongly preferred Knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations and labor compliance requirements Experience interpreting and administering union agreements and related payroll requirements Experience with integrated payroll, HRIS, and financial systems Advanced Excel and spreadsheet reporting skills Experience developing payroll policies and operational procedures Strong process improvement and team development background Ability to interpret and apply complex payroll regulations and employment policies Why This Opportunity This is an opportunity to join a stable and growing organization in a high-impact leadership role where you can influence operational efficiency, compliance, and organizational growth.Due to the confidential nature of this search, additional company details will be shared during the interview process.
