Job Description

Description We are looking for a Payroll Supervisor/Manager to join a field services organization in the Oil & Gas industry in Houston, Texas. This contract-to-permanent opportunity is ideal for a payroll specialist who can oversee end-to-end payroll operations, support employees with payroll-related questions, and ensure compliance with applicable tax and wage regulations. The position requires a hands-on leader who can balance accuracy, responsiveness, and reporting responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
  • Oversee complete payroll processing from initial data review through final submission, ensuring wages, deductions, and tax withholdings are calculated accurately and on schedule.
  • Address employee questions related to pay, deductions, and eligible reimbursement matters with clear and timely communication.
  • Prepare payroll-related financial reports, including general ledger support data, and provide requested information to internal stakeholders.
  • Monitor federal, state, and local payroll requirements to help maintain compliance with current laws affecting payroll, benefits, and expense practices.
  • Review payroll records for accuracy, resolve discrepancies, and maintain thorough documentation to support audits and internal controls.
  • Coordinate payroll activities across multi-state employee populations while meeting reporting deadlines and payment obligations.
  • Use payroll and HR systems to maintain employee pay data, validate updates, and support consistent processing standards.
  • Partner with internal teams to improve payroll workflows, maintain organized records, and support operational efficiency. Requirements
  • Proven experience managing full-cycle payroll processing in a supervisory or lead capacity.
  • Hands-on knowledge of multi-state payroll administration for employee populations ranging from approximately 101 to 500 workers.
  • Strong familiarity with payroll laws, tax reporting requirements, and standard payroll compliance practices.
  • Experience using ADP Workforce Now and related payroll, benefits, or HR platforms.
  • Advanced attention to detail with the ability to organize priorities and meet recurring deadlines independently.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively across a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Solid numerical and analytical skills, including practical proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications.
