Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Payroll Administrator to join our dynamic finance team. This role is essential in ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll, maintaining compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and managing related financial and human resources data. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills in payroll management systems and accounting software, along with a comprehensive understanding of financial concepts, benefits administration, and HRIS platforms. This position offers an opportunity to contribute significantly to the efficiency of our payroll operations while supporting the overall financial health of the organization. Duties Must know Paycom Process payroll accurately and efficiently using systems such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, or UltiPro, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Maintain detailed records of employee hours, wages, deductions, and benefits through data entry and payroll software. Reconcile payroll accounts regularly to ensure accuracy in debits & credits, general ledger entries, and account balances. Manage benefits administration including enrollments, changes, and terminations in HRIS platforms. Prepare journal entries related to payroll transactions for integration into the general ledger. Collaborate with human resources to verify employee data accuracy and handle inquiries regarding payroll or benefits. Assist with tax filings, year-end reporting, and audit preparations related to payroll and benefits. Support accounts payable processes by verifying vendor invoices related to payroll expenses. Perform account reconciliation tasks for payroll-related accounts such as accrued liabilities or taxes payable. Utilize accounting software like QuickBooks or similar platforms for bookkeeping, accounts receivable/payable management, and governmental accounting compliance. Analyze payroll data for discrepancies or inconsistencies; recommend process improvements for efficiency. Ensure compliance with non-profit accounting standards when applicable. Qualifications Proven experience in payroll management using systems such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, Kronos, or Ceridian. Strong knowledge of accounting principles including double entry bookkeeping, journal entries, general ledger reconciliation, debits & credits. Familiarity with financial concepts related to corporate accounting and governmental accounting standards. Experience with HRIS platforms and benefits administration processes. Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks or similar tools; experience with financial software is preferred. Excellent data entry skills including 10 key typing; attention to detail is critical. Knowledge of tax regulations related to payroll processing; experience with tax filings is advantageous. Ability to perform account reconciliation accurately and efficiently while maintaining confidentiality. Strong analysis skills for reviewing financial data and identifying discrepancies. Effective communication skills to collaborate across departments including human resources and finance teams.
