Payroll Specialist Compensation:

$75k to $80k Direct Hire Fully onsite in Sacramento, CA Role Overview This role supports payroll and benefits administration for a 225-employee organization with varying levels of payroll complexity, including commissions and off-cycle terminations. The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, strong with numbers, and comfortable working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities Process payroll for approximately 225 employees Manage quarterly payroll cycles, commission structures, and off-cycle terminations Administer employee benefits across three plans, supporting approximately 1,300 covered lives Manage benefit premiums and employer contributions, including a 4% match Oversee leave management and timekeeping processes Ensure compliance with California labor laws and internal policies Perform heavy spreadsheet work, data reconciliation, and payroll audits Manage a high volume of email correspondence with clear, professional written communication Identify discrepancies and catch errors prior to payroll processing Qualification Experienced with Paylocity, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Teams Advanced Excel and spreadsheet tools Fast and accurate typing skills Strong numerical aptitude with a payroll-accuracy mindset Naturally detail-oriented and known for catching small discrepancies Comfortable working with benefits brokers and external vendors Experience improving or automating processes; understands system logic Clear, direct communicator with a collaborative working style Warm, approachable personality; comfortable with repetition and follow-up Background in bookkeeping or payroll-heavy environments is a plus Spanish bilingual is a nice-to-have, but not required Interested? Pay Details:
