Job Description
Description Tyler Houk (Practice Director) with Robert Half is looking for a dependable Payroll Clerk to support payroll operations for our logistics client in Fresno, California. This role focuses on delivering timely, accurate pay processing, maintaining organized employee payroll data, and helping ensure payroll practices align with company guidelines and regulatory requirements. The position works closely with payroll staff and contributes to reporting, record upkeep, and issue resolution across the payroll cycle.
Responsibilities:
- Administer bi-weekly payroll processing with accuracy and in accordance with established deadlines using ADP.
- Prepare final pay calculations for separated employees while following company standards and California wage requirements.
- Update and preserve payroll records, including compensation details, withholdings, deductions, and tax-related information.
- Audit timesheets and attendance data, investigate inconsistencies, and coordinate corrections before payroll is finalized.
- Generate payroll-related reports and use Excel to reconcile payroll figures, identify variances, and support record accuracy.
- Assist with year-end payroll activities such as wage statement preparation, reporting support, and related documentation.
- Respond to routine payroll questions and provide administrative assistance for day-to-day payroll operations.
- Support additional payroll tasks and special projects as assigned by the payroll team. Requirements
- At least 2 years of payroll experience, including full-cycle payroll processing.
- Hands-on experience with ADP payroll systems in a payroll environment.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills for reporting, reconciliation, and data review.
- Experience handling payroll for employee populations ranging from approximately 101 to 500 employees.
- Knowledge of garnishments, deductions, and standard payroll compliance practices.
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to manage confidential information responsibly.
- Effective organization, time management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
