PAYROLL SPECIALIST

JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to support payroll operations. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing while maintaining compliance with applicable federal, state, and organizational policies. The ideal candidate will have experience working within a college or university setting and possess hands-on knowledge of leading payroll and HRIS platforms.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Process payroll accurately and on schedule for faculty, staff, and other employee groups. Review, validate, and reconcile payroll data, earnings, deductions, taxes, and benefits. Maintain payroll records and ensure the integrity of employee payroll information. Research and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries in a timely manner. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and organizational payroll regulations and policies. Generate payroll reports and support internal and external audit requests. Partner with Human Resources, Benefits, and Finance teams to ensure accurate payroll administration. Assist with year-end payroll activities, tax reporting, and process improvements.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of 3 years of payroll processing experience. Prior payroll experience within a higher education environment (college or university preferred). Hands-on experience with one or more of the following systems:
  • Banner / Ellucian
  • UKG (Ultimate Kronos Group)
  • ADP Strong understanding of payroll laws, regulations, and best practices.
Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills. Strong problem-solving and customer service abilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and payroll reporting tools.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience supporting complex payroll environments with multiple employee groups. Familiarity with academic payroll structures and higher education employment practices. Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation is a plus Platinum Resource Group is a professional level consulting firm, providing resources to Fortune 1000 client companies in the areas of technology, human resources, accounting, finance, business systems and supply chain, on a contract and interim basis.
