Job Description

Description We are looking for a Payroll Specialist to support a non-profit organization in Los Angeles, California on a Contract assignment running through August. This position will focus on accurate payroll execution and recruitment support within ADP Workforce Now, requiring hands-on expertise across payroll, time and attendance, and recruiting functions. The ideal candidate brings strong organizational skills, sound judgment, and a solid understanding of payroll compliance and employment practices.
Responsibilities:
  • Process full-cycle payroll accurately for a large employee population while maintaining compliance with applicable regulations and internal deadlines.
  • Manage multi-state payroll activities within ADP Workforce Now, ensuring employee records, earnings, deductions, and tax-related details are handled correctly.
  • Import and review time and attendance data in ADP Workforce Now, resolve discrepancies, and prepare payroll information for timely processing.
  • Support recruitment activity within ADP Workforce Now by posting openings and assisting with related system tasks tied to hiring workflows.
  • Revise and maintain job descriptions so they remain current, clear, and aligned with organizational needs.
  • Perform payroll-related quality checks and address errors proactively to help ensure smooth, accurate payroll runs.
  • Collaborate with HR and internal stakeholders to support employee data updates, payroll inquiries, and recruiting coordination.
  • Maintain organized records and documentation while handling sensitive payroll and HR information with discretion. Requirements
  • Direct, hands-on experience using ADP Workforce Now across Payroll, Time & Attendance, and Recruitment modules is required.
  • Proven ability to process full-cycle payroll with a strong emphasis on accuracy and compliance.
  • Experience supporting multi-state payroll for a workforce of 500 or more employees.
  • Working knowledge of payroll regulations, wage and hour requirements, and employment-related practices.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for working with employees and internal teams.
  • Prior HR support experience is preferred, particularly in environments where payroll and recruiting responsibilities overlap.
